WHAT IS A PARENT'S ROLE?



Parenting is the process of promoting and supporting the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development of a child from before birth to adulthood. Parenting refers to the activity of raising a child rather than the biological relationship.

It is a parent's role to:
  • Provide physical safety and to protect their child from dangers
  • Provide shelter, clothes, nourishment
  • Care for a child's health
  • Provide a child with the means to develop physically
  • To train the body of a child, helping develop good habits of health and to introduce to exercise
  • Provide an atmosphere of peace and justice and respect to one's dignity
  • Provide an environment without fear, threat, and abuse
  • Support and / or provide school related learning: Reading, writing, calculating etc.
  • Teach social skills and etiquette
  • Nurture in Moral and Spiritual development, creating good ethics and value systems
  • Provide a safe loving environment giving the child a sense of being loved, needed, and wanted
  • Provide Emotional support and encouragement
  • Shoe empathy and compassion to your child and to teach these attributes to your child
